MP3Movement for Patriotism and People’s Prosperity

Our history

From 2017 to the Bana congress.

2017, some thirty young leaders

The party is put together in 2017, by the will of some thirty young Cameroonian leaders. Their idea: enter politics through a civic commitment that lasts, rather than a campaign that dies out on election night.

All through 2017, these founders run awareness drives for registration on the electoral rolls. Everyday difficulties take their source in the country’s poor management. The first act is to exercise the right to vote. The party begins there, even before it has its receipt.

17 November 2018, the Douala assembly

A general assembly brings together people from the NOW and Build Ensemble movements. They create the Movement for Patriotism and People’s Prosperity. The name states the project: patriotism, prosperity, and the people as the ones it is for. The commitment is meant to be long and Africa-centred, after the presidential election of October 2018.

Hiram Samuel Iyodi then runs the permanent secretariat. The party means to be collegial: the decision does not rest on a single name. The doctrine already has its name: afro-socio-liberalism, a social contract drawn from African societies, holding social justice and shared prosperity together.

The same year, several founders join the campaign teams of one of the major candidates in the presidential election of October 2018.

January 2019, the file in the Littoral

In January 2019, the permanent secretariat files the complete legalisation papers with the governor of the Littoral region. The filing receipt is no. 008 of 7 January 2019. On 11 January, the file is sent on to the Minister of Territorial Administration, under law no. 90/056 of 19 December 1990. The party sets its mission there: the political education of Cameroonians, and a share in the rise of community development.

The party is a political association under Cameroonian law. It is governed by law no. 90/056 of 19 December 1990. It is secular and non-profit.

From 2019, the first cells are set up. Communication circulates. Legal registration, however, is late, beyond the delay the law provides for creating parties. Through those years, the party continues its civic-commitment work.

9 November 2023, the party is authorised

On 9 November 2023, the Ministry of Territorial Administration authorises MP3 by decision no. 000437/D/MINAT/SG/DAP/SDAAE/SAE, announced in press release no. 000036. Five years after the Douala assembly, the party has its legal existence. On 30 November, the secretariat publishes its statement. Afro-socio-liberalism is recalled there as the party’s ideology, developed in the programme “Building our Cameroon together”, whose summary appeared in 2019 as a memorandum.

The mission written in the memorandum is precise: contribute to the instruction and training of a new class of patriots, moved by civic leadership, for a society of social justice and shared prosperity. The word that goes with it: re-enchant our own, give as many people as possible the strength, the wish and the courage to dream themselves together.

9 June 2024, the memorandum and membership

On 9 June 2024, version 2.0 of the memorandum on the social project is published, under the title “Let us refound an indomitable Cameroon”. Membership opens to the public. The memorandum is the text of doctrine: it says what the party believes, what it proposes for 2025–2050, how it organises itself, and which reforms it judges urgent.

The strategy written for the next three years holds in three plain steps. In 2024, make afro-socio-liberalism known and create the regional structures. In 2025, write the 2025–2050 programme with members and civil-society actors, and reach down to the departments. In 2026, make that programme known and install all the bodies provided for by the statutes.

2025, the manifesto, then Bana

On 31 December 2024, an end-of-year address announces the strategy for 2025 and the manifesto. In February 2025, in Douala, Le Kontinent debout is made public: twelve keys, from currency to school. These keys extend the memorandum. They do not replace it. In 2026, the party further specifies the form of the state as five agroecological federations: Sahel, Plateaux, Montagnes, Côte and Forêt.

From 12 to 14 December 2025, Bana hosts the first congress. Members elect their governing bodies and choose Hiram Samuel Iyodi as national president for the 2026–2030 term. The party enters its deployment phase: federations, leagues, sections.

By 2030, the memorandum sets the aim: gather the energies and the genius of Cameroonians for a lasting dynamic of winning and exercising power, in the service of social justice and shared prosperity, in Cameroon and in Africa.
